IVF treatments we undertake an extensive rewrite of the treatment cycle booking application.

ACUBase is selected by the CARE IVF centre in Durban, South Africa. This is our first
overseas installation and our 13th overall.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Reproductive Medicine Clinic and Assisted
Conception Unit select ACUBase to provide their Data Management Solution. With a visually
stunning brand new “State of the Art” unit Guy’s needed to select the best and most
versatile database and after looking at all the options selected ACUBase.

replace all their current data management applications.

Barts and The London NHS Trust purchase ACUBase.

In preparation for the increase in the NHS funding of IVF treatments the NHS reporting
tools are extensively rewritten to allow for the increased audit information required by
Primary Care Trusts. Clinics with excess of 20 PCT’s use this as their sole means of audit.

ACUBase recognises the importance of keeping a robust audit trail of patient communication
and introduces an SMS texting application. This allows clinics to contact clients quickly
with “within cycle” instructions. This has proved to be an invaluable aid in ensuring that
any information given to clients can be audited. DNA rates also decline as texts are sent
as appointment reminders.

At the suggestion of users we have continued to provide system enhancements. Available as
annual upgrades are further enhanced statistical functions, as well as several cycle review
tools.

The internationally respected Midland Fertility Services, based in Aldridge, Nr Birmingham,
decide to implement ACUBase to replace their existing bespoke and paper systems. MFS were
the first IVF unit in the world to achieve BS EN ISO 9002:1994, accreditation, demonstrating
their commitment to data management.

The newly created Glasgow Centre for Reproductive Medicine decide to implement ACUBase and go
live in October 2006.
- July 2006
St. Mary's Hospital in Manchester, one of the largest and busiest NHS Assisted Conception
Units in the UK with over 25 NHS contracts decide to implement ACUBase as their sole Data
Management System. The job is currently provided for by another commercial database and bespoke
systems. All of this data will be converted into ACUBase.

The ACUBase developers have been working very closely with the HFEA to integrate their Electronic Data Interface. After many late nights of programming, this component is installed and being tested at The Bridge Centre, London.

A new module has been completed that can keep track of costs to the patient, generate invoices, record payments and maintain patient account balance information.
This is currently being tested and used at 2 of our ACUBASE installations.

Origin Fertility Care Belfast’s premier private IVF unit decides to use ACUBase.

ACUBase introduces Quickbook, a completely new way to book appointments. Integrated seamlessly with other areas of the database you can now see at a glance the availability of up to 5 clinics. Easily find out the next unbooked appointments, create multiple appointments and much more.

ACUBase are proud to announce a major rewrite of the embryology application. Feedback from users indicated that it took too long to enter cases where there were large numbers of eggs collected. We listened and this new application is available at no cost to new installations and becomes part of the annual upgrade for others.

CRM London and Manchester Fertility Services have decided to implement ACUBase to replace their existing systems.

ACUBase completes development of major statistical application.
For some time we have been working on major statistical enhancements to ACUBase. This project, code named megastats, will provide enormous benefit to ACUBase users. Virtually any information collected within ACUBase can be analysed and compared with other statistical analyses.

ACUBase integrates with BioMerieux VIDAS blood analyser.
Requests for blood tests by Doctors and Nurses are now transmitted directly to the VIDAS blood analyser from ACUBase. Results are transferred automatically from the analyser to the individual test in ACUBase. In addition to improving response speed and reliability it reduces the bureaucratic overheads as internal telephone calls for results are no longer needed.

Superbase Developers PLC invited to the HFEA to discuss Electronic Data Interface Project:
ACUBase held discussions with the head of IT at the HFEA. The HFEA's intention is to encourage the electronic transfer of data from centres rather than continue with paper-based forms. They will also require additional information to be submitted including "Intention to Treat" information. Superbase has committed to integrating ACUBase with this new software and will commence work on this major project once the HFEA have finished developing their software.

ACUBase enhances the IVF treatment cycle booking application.
ACUBase has always made booking IVF treatment cycles easy
and after consultation with users this has been made even more straightforward. All appointments can now be made from one screen and ACUBase even works out which days are best for scans based on criteria you specify. Appointments for scanning and egg collections can also be made direct from the folliculogram.
As with all of ACUBase functions we work with clients to ensure the system works for you. All these enhancements are optional.

Queen Mary's Assisted Conception Unit goes live with ACUBase's Paper Free Environment.
Upon Arrival in the unit a Toshiba Network Scanner scans all documents. Integration programming by Superbase Developers PLC automatically assigns these documents to the patient record. All notes and treatment cycle information is entered directly into ACUBase by clinicians and nurses. This gives Queen Mary's a major advantage as no time is now spent looking out and checking notes. The unit is now undertaking a project to archive all existing notes and storing them as pdf files. ACUBase and Toshiba have combined again to automatically assign these notes to the patient record within ACUBase.
The Assisted Conception Unit was identified as a centre of excellent practice with regard to this initiative and in December a web cast produced in conjunction with Toshiba and egov.tv was filmed.
